Entries will be accepted for Britain’s Best Brigades until midday GMT on 25th April 2016.
Judging will occur between 26th April and 2nd May 2016.
Voting will open on 25th May 2016 and will close at midday GMT on 27th June 2016.
There are eight regions – see point 3. One finalist will be selected from each region during judging. The finalist from each region will be notified between 3rd May and 5th May 2016.
The overall Britain’s Best Brigades winner will be notified on 28th June 2016.
The Britain’s Best Brigades contest is only open to bone fide catering teams, with a minimum of two members, who are all legal residents of the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and currently operating within the below eight given regions.
Each member of the brigade must be at least 16 years old and have permission from their employer to enter. The officers, directors, employees, contractors, prize providers and agents of Essential Cuisine (the “Promoter”) and the immediate families and those living in the same household of any of the above are not eligible.
If entrants do not respond to notification of becoming a finalist within 48 hours, the entrant forfeits their position within the contest and the next highest scorer from that region will be selected and contacted.
In entering the competition, the main contact of the entry must be available on the telephone for potential interview between the times of 9am to 5pm GMT on 29th June 2016.
Each entry must contain all valid contact details, all mandatory business information as indicated on the form, a description as to why the team should be crowned the winner and the name of at least one other existing kitchen team member. Failure to comply with these regulations may result in disqualification.
All submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by a judging panel of Essential Cuisine employees as well as three other independent parties (names of which are available upon request) all of whom will have experience in the foodservice industry, who will choose one entry per region that best meets the criteria listed below. Each entry will receive a score of 0 to 100 based on the following criteria:
In the event of a tie, the tied entries will be re-evaluated by the judging criteria, and if still tied, the most original entry will be deemed the most suitable for the final.
The decisions of each judge are final in relation to all promotional matters.
The eight finalists will be contacted by telephone between 3rd May and 5th May 2016 and asked to submit a thirty to sixty second video detailing why they should be crowned Britain’s Best Brigade 2016. These videos will be uploaded to www.bestbrigades.co.uk and open to a public vote. The entry that receives most votes will be crowned the overall winner of the competition.
The winning team will be announced on www.bestbrigades.co.uk
Submissions will only be accepted via the official entry form that is located on the Essential Cuisine website www.bestbrigades.co.uk
Only one entry per establishment will be accepted.
By entering this contest, entrants grant consent to the use of their name and likeness, along with establishment name for editorial, advertising and publicity purposes, without further compensation (except where prohibited).
Prize structure: There will be one Grand Prize and seven Runners-up for the contest. The Grand Prize is £1,000, a Britain’s Best Brigade trophy, a certificate and participation in a team masterclass. The masterclass is compulsory and will take place at the winner’s establishment with an Essential Cuisine representative and will involve an interview with the team as well as photography of the team in the kitchen and the establishment (interior and exterior) to be used in editorial in trade press and across social media. The interview discussion will discuss what it means to win and what effect this will have on the team.
The seven runners up will receive £300, a Britain’s Best Brigade trophy and a certificate.
All cheques will be made out to the entrant’s full name and sent to the address as detailed within the submission.
Owing to exceptional circumstances outside its reasonable control and only where circumstances make this unavoidable, the Promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the promotion or these terms and conditions at any stage but will always endeavour to minimize the effect to participants in order to avoid undue disappointment.
Members of the public will be invited to vote from 25th May and 27th June 2016 (“Voting Period”). The Promoter reserves the right to amend the dates in circumstances out of their control. The Promoter will notify of any amends on the website.
Voting will only be open to residents of the United Kingdom aged 16 or over, excluding employees and the immediate families of the Promoter, its affiliated companies, agents or anyone else professionally connected with this promotion.
To vote, participants must visit www.bestbrigades.co.uk and register a vote for their favourite finalists.
Only one vote may be registered per person. Duplicates will be removed and will not be accepted. Anyone trying to circumvent this condition by using alternative details will be disqualified.
Any abuse of the voting system, including vote-rigging or any kind of vote farming, will result in disqualification of the entry and/or disqualification on voting, at the Promoter’s discretion.
The Promoter reserves the right to suspend all or any voting should any abuse of the voting system be suspected.
Any automated votes will be disqualified.
At the close of the Voting Period, the finalist that receives the most votes will be deemed the overall winner. In the unlikely event that public voting results in a tie, the tied finalists will be re-judged by the judges based on the judging criteria stated above in relation to the selection of finalist entries.
Except where prohibited by law, entry into the promotion constitutes permission to use winners’ name, likeness and/or prize information and establishment name and location without limitation, for promotional purposes without further permission or compensation.
Names and locations of the seven finalists and overall winner will be posted on the Essential Cuisine website www.bestbrigades.co.uk, and entrant information may be used by Essential Cuisine for marketing purposes.
Essential Cuisine is not responsible for lost, late, damaged, illegible, garbled, inaccurate, misdirected, undelivered, or delayed entries. No incomplete entries will be accepted. Entries will not be returned or acknowledged.
By participating in the Contest, entrants: (i) agree to be bound by these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements; and (ii) agree to be bound by the decisions of Essential Cuisine and the independent judging organisation, which are final and binding in all matters relating to the Contest. Failure to comply with these Official Rules may result in disqualification from the Contest. Essential Cuisine reserves the right in its sole discretion to: (i) permanently disqualify from the Contest any person it believes has intentionally violated these Official Rules; and (ii) withdraw the Contest if it becomes technically corrupted such that, in Essential Cuisine’s sole determination, the online method of entry cannot be conducted as originally planned (including if a computer virus or system malfunction inalterably impairs its ability to conduct the Contest) and to select winners from among all eligible online entries received prior to withdrawal.
These terms and conditions are subject to English law and to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
Entry instructions form part of these Terms and Conditions. By taking part in this competition entrants are deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions.
